As we wind down 2024, and move into this season of Thanksgiving, we want to express our deep appreciation to all of you who have supported us so generously. For over 20 years, Hands and Feet Project has been working in Haiti to change the lives of the least and the lost. We have been a part of that story since 2017. We serve in Haiti based on faith that God called us there and directed our attention and our hearts to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of Haitian people. And He has done just that. The partnerships we have with people, churches and businesses are the only way this is possible, and we are thankful for each and every one of you!
Rochester Visit
Our semi-annual trip to Rochester went well. We had a great time seeing friends, family and the faithful supporters of our ministry. Our time there always goes by so quickly, and there are always more people that we wish we could see. We will be back north again in April. We hope and pray that you all have a safe and warm winter!
Our return trip to Florida had some surprises in store for us. After a few days visiting family in Tennessee, we planned to continue to Florida, but hurricane Milton had other plans. We delayed the final leg of the trip, and had a surprise encounter with a friendly beaver along the way! We’ve found that Buc-ee’s is a good place for us to stop and stretch our legs along the way. We returned to Florida to find that we had very minor damage to our house. There was some flooding in our community and region that impacted many families.
Haiti Life Update
Here’s an update from Hands and Feet Project about the Haiti programs for children in our care, families that w help with, and the communities around our campuses.
This update shares about one of our amazing house moms, Cathiana. We are so thankful for her passion and energy. She started working with Hands and Feet Project while we were living in Jacmel. She’s great with the kids! These little ones are (almost) always a bundle of joy!
Haiti Conditions
Several times this year, a small group of us have planned trips into Haiti. All the trips that Randy planned were met with obstacles and had to be postponed due to issues that arose in Haiti. The gangs in the Port-au-Prince region continue their reign. Transportation within Haiti can still be very challenging due to very limited flights, and many risks traveling on the road in some regions.
With the deteriorating conditions in Haiti and the further increase in gang violence, many more people are fleeing from their homes in the Port-au-Prince area. A request was made to the United Nations to change the nature of the peacekeeping force and to increase the numbers to better deal with the gangs. We will be watching to see where that goes.
We can never lose hope for Haiti and all of the amazingly faithful and resilient people who live there. Please continue to pray for God to bring peace to that country, along with people of integrity to lead and move Haiti along the path towards peace and prosperity.
This Thanksgiving season, we want to remind you all that we are so grateful for each and every one of you. Together we can achieve so much more, and we are thankful for the amazing partners that we have in this ministry.
