We are heading to the states in November! Hopefully it won’t be referred to as Novembrrrr. 🙂 After 4 months in Haiti, we are very accustomed to temperatures between 75 and 95 degrees! We will be doing a lot of traveling while we’re in the states to visit with family, friends and supporters. We would love to see you all!
Our trip tentatively includes stops in Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Our poor little rental car will be accumulating quite a few miles on it! We will be spending 3-5 days in Brooksville, FL; Phoeniz, AZ; Rochester, NY; and Shreveport, LA with shorter stops along the way to see family, friends and some of our supporters.
If you live near any of those locations and would like to get together, please let us know. We have a tight travel schedule the rest of the time, so even if we’re passing close by, our schedule may not allow us to stop by, but we’ll certainly try! We have to eat, right? A quick bite?
We knew from the beginning that Hands and Feet Project wants their field staff to take time off outside of Haiti every 6 months. They have the experience and insight to know that life in Haiti can be difficult, especially living on a campus that houses over 70 children! As I’m sure you can imagine, the days are very long, but the weeks are flying by! You can read more about our work in our article called People, Projects and Priorities. There are many cultural differences that we’re still learning about, along with the challenges that come with children being displaced from family. You can read about some of those challenges in our post, How Important is Family Preservation. We have learned and grown in ways we never could have imagined! We are now seeing the value of going home every six months! At this point, we are looking forward to some time away to review, reflect, recharge and rejuvenate.
As we return to Haiti in late November, our preparations for Christmas will ramp up. We’ll write more about that soon!
Thank you all for your support! We can’t do this without you!
