Family Preservation, Daycares and the “New Normal”

At the Hands and Feet Project, we focus our efforts on protecting, caring, and serving the vulnerable in Haiti through four projects:

* Preserving Families
* Providing Families
* Experiencing Missions
* Restoring Survivors

You can visit the Hands and Feet Project website to learn more about each of these projects. You can also review the 2021 Impact Report for more impact stats from our different projects.

Preserving Families

The goal of our Preserving Families Project is to keep families together. Among the several projects within our Family Preservation Project is our Little Hands Daycare.  We have talked about this in the past and it is something we are excited about. In 2021 we supported 28 families, 28 children.  That is 28 families where moms, dads, and caregivers can go to work and know that their child is being well taken care of, learning, and having fun as well. It also means they can continue with their jobs and support their family.  Keep the family intact. There is no cost to the family for this service.

Little Hands Daycare

When we opened our Jacmel daycare, our intention was to duplicate these in the Jacmel area as well as in Grand Goave, which is where our other Children’s Village is located. I am so excited to say that even though we have been working stateside, I have been working with our team in Haiti as well as leadership in the U.S. and we have started the process for the daycare at our Thozin campus! This month we hired a Daycare Administrator and he will be starting his training very soon.  His name is Jean Rony Dor.  Jean Rony has been working for the Hands and Feet Project primarily as a translator. I have spent the last several weeks ordering what we need to give these little ones a great education, tons of fun and learning experiences. Jean Rony and I will be interviewing and hiring teachers as well as a cook for the daycare.  Once we have them trained, we will start talking with families in the Grand Goave area to determine the most need for children to enter our new program.

Both daycares will have top notch Administrators to oversee the projects. As we have transitioned into working from both Haiti to stateside, these administrators will work with me while I am in the States.  We will have regular communication and I will go into Haiti several times a year to assist them as needed.

As we have been stateside waiting to hear from our board and leadership, I have been able to continue working on the daycare program. This will be my primary focus both when we are in Haiti and in the USA.

Prayer Requests

* Please pray for these new staff members, that the daycares will provide relief for the parents so they can work.

* Pray for the children that will be going to the Thozin site when it opens, those that God has already planned to place with us.

* Pray for our new administrators and teachers that will help lead these precious children.

Thank you all for your ongoing support of our ministry and that of Hands and Feet Project as we navigate this “new normal” of maintaining and improving our projects that help families in Haiti, and dealing with the ongoing unrest in the country. Your prayers and support are critical to our ministry, and we’re thankful for everyone who helps in any way.
