Haiti Events & Activities – Summer 2022

Summer Overview

It has been another busy summer for all of us at Hands and Feet Project! Here are some of the summer events and activities we’ve been working on. We have hired new Haitian staff, welcomed another missionary to our Jacmel team, celebrated two high school graduations, held many computer classes, made progress towards opening and reopening 4 daycares, and reorganized some things on our Jacmel campus. Looking ahead, we have Vacation Bible School (VBS) in Jacmel this week, VBS in Grand Goave next week, and our Village Values weekend celebration is coming up quickly as well. We’ve been back to Florida for a brief stay, and are now back in Haiti for the rest of the summer.

Flying back to Haiti

Our trip to Florida began with both of us getting sick for most of a week. We must have caught some sort of stomach bug just before or during our trip to the States. It made our brief visit to Florida seem even shorter. On top of our full work load of managing daycare activities, overseeing finances, maintaining computer systems, and helping out in many other areas, we both had new staff in Haiti start working while we were in Florida. We spent a lot of time on video calls and chats to keep the training moving forward! On top of that, Denise also lead sessions of the women’s Bible study at our church in Florida.

New Staff

Carys, our new missionary in Jacmel

We have the great pleasure of introducing you to our new coworker, Carys Stodgill. She came to Jacmel as an intern and has now returned as a full time missionary. She is a photographer and videographer based on our Jacmel campus. You have definitely seen some of her work, and I’m sure you will see much more from her as the summer activities continue. We also have new staff working with the daycares and finances. We’re excited to have them join us as well.

Congrats to our Graduates

Two more of our kids in Jacmel graduated from High School this year, and another 5 of our kids in Grand Goave also graduated. We had a great time celebrating our kids who have achieved this great success. As in the States, a high school graduate has many more opportunities open to them. We’re looking forward to great things as they move on to find jobs or make plans for further education.

Summer Events & Activities

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a favorite time for many of our kids. It’s a week-long time of fun activities and experiencing Bible stories in a new way. While we don’t have a team coming in from the USA to help with VBS this year, we have a great team of helpers made up of our staff and older kids. This year we are teaching about the life Jesus and why we should celebrate his coming to Earth.

Village Values

Our Village Values weekend is a time to encourage our kids and staff towards a higher standard in the areas of obedience, love, honesty and responsibility, and to celebrate those people on our campuses who exhibit those values.

Beauty & Grace Women’s Conference

Denise is also speaking at a women’s conference at our church in Haiti. There are over 400 women from several different churches expected at the conference next weekend! Please keep her and the other speakers in your prayers, that God would fill them with the words to say and the confidence to share the message of Gods love. Please also pray that God would use this event to bring people to the saving grace of knowing Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Prayer Requests

Please keep these requests in your prayers:

  • For our recent graduates to find work or be accepted into programs to continue their education
  • That VBS will go smoothly on both campuses, and that it has a positive impact in the faith journey of our kids and staff
  • For our new staff to learn quickly and be productive in their new roles at HAFP
  • For the women’s conference to go smoothly next weekend and have a positive impact on all those who attend

We appreciate your ongoing prayers and support as we continue pursuing the work God has laid before us.
