Leaving for Haiti Next Month

Final Preparations

Three weeks before our departure. Wow, how did that happen? So many unexpected emotions. So many God moments.

Denise needed to go to Florida for 4 days to be with her mom and dad. Prayers for her dad as he recuperates and goes through rehabilitation. Prayers for her mom as she learns her role in his care. There are many decisions to be made around all of this.

While Denise was with her parents, Randy was holding the “empty” fort in Rochester. Both of us are done with our J.O.B.S which allows us more time to work on our support. Talk about emotional! Saying good bye was not easy for either of us.

We are getting close to our personal deadline of June 1st to be fully supported! Our countdown clock is ticking away. As I write this the countdown clock says 7 days. God is amazing us with great appointments with potential partners. We now have commitments for 80% of our monthly support! We are trusting God for the remainder. If you know of an individual or group we should share with please let us know. It’s been good to see and connect with many whom we haven’t seen in a long time.

In early May we had the privilege of attending the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) Conference in Nashville Tennessee. We took five days of classes that will prepare us for the work we will do in Haiti. We learned how trauma of any kind, at any point in a child’s life can be devastating. With the skills we learned we feel a little more confident going into our roles. We also met some of the Hands and Feet Project staff that work at the home office in Franklin. It’s great to put faces to the names we see and those we have communicated with over the phone.

One of our Haitian staff attended as well. His first time in the USA! He didn’t care for runny eggs and our bacon but did love the huge hamburger from The Mellow Mushroom in Franklin! It was fun to watch him experience our country for the first time.

Mark Your Calendars!

On June 11th we will say good-bye to our home church, LifeTree Fellowship. Afterwards we will have an Open House upstairs from 12:30-3:30. Look for more info on our Facebook and web pages very soon. If you are reading this and have known us for any length of time we would love to have you join us and say good-bye.
