Girls going to a soccer game on Christmas break

Every time we write an update about our adventures here in Haiti, we wonder where the time went since our last update. It’s hard to believe that the Christmas and New Year holidays have passed by — we never really had the opportunity to reflect and celebrate! As mentioned in an earlier blog, we said our Christmas was going to be different this year. Well, we have never been more right! When the time comes for a holiday in Haiti, most of our staff are off, but our kids are still here on campus. That means we work extra hard on holidays! Weekends are very similar as well, but not to the same degree.

Coming to Rochester!

Bonswa tout moun! (Good evening everyone!)

Well, on Tuesday evening we arrived in the USA, or stateside, as it is called.  Spent two days with Randy’s mom and dad in the Tampa area and then headed out to Phoenix to spend time with some good friends and our daughter, Emily. That is where I am writing this blog. I can’t believe we already head out tomorrow  to go back east, Orlando. We will then get a rental car and head to Continue reading “Coming to Rochester!”

Christmas in Haiti!

In our time here in Haiti we have had many “firsts.” Some of which we would never have dreamed of experiencing.  Well here is another: Christmas in Haiti. It will be a little different than back in the good ole USA.  For starters, the temperature will be be quite a bit hotter than New York. We will also have green all around us instead of white, and our tree will not be a big pine tree.  As a matter of fact it will be made out of Continue reading “Christmas in Haiti!”

What are Village Values?

We call them Village Values.

We have two campuses (Children’s Villages) at The Hands and Feet Project with a total of 110 children, over 100 full and part time Haitian staff, and 8 American missionaries living full time in Haiti.  Every one of us know what the Village Values are Continue reading “What are Village Values?”

Bienvenue a Jacmel - Welcome to Jacmel Sidewalk Mosaic

Wow! Again, we are blown away at how fast the days and weeks are going. When we wrote the first draft of this note, we were at the 6 week mark from when we left the states. Today marks the 9th week since we left!! As you can imagine, we are training, training, training! Not only formally but “as you go” type training! More on that later.

Since we last wrote we have had another team from the USA here. They brought in everything Continue reading “Learning and Growing”

Hello, Haiti!

As many know, we are now in Haiti. We actually arrived about one and a half weeks ago today. Backup…

The week before we left, our church, LifeTree Fellowship, had a Commissioning Service for us that was amazing and very humbling. We so appreciate our church family. The Bible teaching that is constantly spoken there and the support we have from them. We are honored to have them pray for us and lift us up on a daily basis. We received a gift Continue reading “Hello, Haiti!”
